    Question

I was wondering if anyone knew a way to make "bullet hits" on the ground, and on trees and walls. for example, a machine gun goes off, and 5 bullets hit a wall... what would be a way to "show" that the bullets hit?
Also, what is the BEST editing program to get (lets say money is no object).
    and the last question
Does anyone know where I can find info on how alot of movies were made? I would really like to know more on how Saving Private Ryan was made (I have the extra bonus VHS tape, but it wasnt useful)
    any information would be great
    thanks

Dale's "eejit's guide to..." should be able to help you out with the bullet hits!

you want to know about film making?

okay I'll most probably be *bashed* for this, but...

Get hold of some Robert Rodriguez stuff, either his book (Rebel without a Crew) or the DVD (El Mararchi/Desperado) it has many extra features about film-making!

Best editing program.... Adobe Premiere - thats just personal preference though.

IMHO - I wouldn't worry about getting info about "how Hollywood movies are made" - just go out and do it your way!

See if you copy crappy Hollywood movies, then all your doing is making a Crappy Hollywood Clone! and whats the point in that?

Using party-poppers actually works quite well!
I was doing some shooting (Both sense of the word), and I used some party poppers as the bullet hits.
If you open them up, take all the paper stuf out and then cut the fat bit off.
Stick the rest to a tree, gate, etc.
(You'll have to get someone to hide behind the tree and position the camera so that the said person is not in shot).
Stand close to the cap (Not too close, you will go deaf like I did for a bit!), lights, camera, action, bang!
    Thant's a wrap.

Be careful with party poppers. I opened one up before and was almost blinded because it somehow ignited.

First off, thank you for your replys.

I will try the party popper Idea.. it sounds like a good one. But what would you recommend me using to make bullet hits on the ground? like if someone were shooting at another person, and the bullets missed the target, and struck the ground?

    thanks

I've been wondering the same thing and have came up with an idea..I decided to make some little explosives which blow up upwards. When they do that all the dirt which is above 'em blows up. I believe that's cool smile
